Web-Head Weekly #149 - Happy Birthday to me!
This past week just flew by, didn't it? It seems like I never get completely caught up anymore and these next few months are going to be no exception. This August, The Tangled Web is going on a diet. We are going to lose half of our weight during the month of July and by August 1, we are going to be a lean, mean, fighting machine. Here is the low-down: If I kept The Web as-is, my rent was going to be almost $4000.00 per month and I just can't afford to try and stretch like that during this little 'slowdown' of the economy. My goal is to try and buy my own building and put a King-Sized Tangled Web in it (along with a couple of other stores) but I can't save any money paying $4k each month in rent, so... We're going back to our original half of the existing store. Don't worry! We aren't changing any of the products that we carry, we are just getting rid of all that empty space. I love my open spaces, but $4k is a little much to pay for the extra 'elbow room'. I'll give you guys more of an update on things as July gets a little closer, but until then, let's see what we have cooking up for the New Release rack this Wednesday:
DC 
The countdown is OVER!!! Final Crisis starts next month and this week gives us the beginning of the end with Countdown to Final Crisis #1 and Death of the New Gods #8. Both of these series end with a bang and lead right into Final Crisis is 2 weeks. Superman/Batman #47 teams up with Batman #675, Batman Chronicles TP #5, and a 1/2 Scale Batman Bust to give us our second Bat-Filled week in a row. All the other good DC stuff releasing this week is listed below.
MARVEL
Just in time for Secret Invasion, Marvel is putting the Avengers: Kree/Skrull War TP back into print for all you guys who don't remember the original war against the green, wrinkled, chins. Add Ms. Marvel #26 and Mighty Avengers #12 to the Secret Invasion crossover list too! Also in this week, Thor #8 is another great chapter in the re-invention of the character and the city of Asgard. This is a very different version of Thor than you have read before and its pretty cool! The very late Hulk #3 finally sheds some light on what exactly is going on with all the big, non-green, Hulk-like people running around. Throw in 3 Ultimate titles and 5 Mutie Books and you have yourself a pretty good sized Marvel week.
EVERYBODY ELSE
Dark Horse apparently had a George Lucas enema last week and as a result, they are pushing out (heh) all three current ongoing Star Wars titles this week with Legacy #22, KoTOR #27, and Dark Times #10. Image is giving us the excellent Mice Templar #3 this week along with the equally good Godland #22 and Dynamo 5 #12. Not many of you read these monthly, but you should check out the trades, they are really good. All the rest of the stuff releasing this week is in the master list below!!!
TOURNAMENTS
 On Saturday, Dennis and Stephen held a "Guess how OLD Daniel is" contest with all the regular gamers. As they paid their $5 fee to be in their regular tournament, they got to write down how old they thought I was and turn it in with their entry. The person who guessed the closest to my actual age won the tournament and the person who wrote down that I was 62 years old got the crap stomped out of them. And I had just bought those shoes, too. Oh well, happiness ain't cheap!! Daniel Brown correctly guessed that I am 24 years old and promptly won the tournament. Good Job, Daniel! |
